The Australian Rostrum Council

Functions of the ARC and the Current ARC membership.

The Australian Rostrum Council is the national executive of Australian Rostrum. The Council consists of the National President and the Presidents of the seven zones: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory, Tasmania, The Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Western Australia.


The responsibilities of the Australian Rostrum Council are to:

  • provide a forum for the exchange of opinions and ideas related to the objectives of Rostrum;

  • supervise the organisation of Rostrum events such as The Rostrum Voice of Youth at a national level

  • supply appropriate publications and training materials and

  • promote the ideals and objectives of Rostrum


The current members of The Australian Council are:

  • Patrick Bourke National President
  • David Anson President, New South Wales
  • David Thorpe President, Queensland
  • Peter Martindale President, South Australia and Northern Territory
  • Warren Nichols President, Tasmania
  • Neil Spalding President, The Australian Capital Territory
  • George Schmidt President, Victoria
  • Gloria Hancock President Western Australia


Non-voting members:

  • Maureen Bourke National Secretary
  • Einer Herringe National Treasurer
